The Tremont House | Room Key
Designed and built in 1829 – The Tremont House introduced the concept of a “luxury” hotel in America.
The hotel incorporated a number of “firsts” including individual room keys, indoor plumbing, a reception area, bellhops and even free bars of soap in each room.
It catered to such guests as Davy Crockett and Charles Dickens. Notably, during the 19th century it was socially unacceptable for women to dine alone in the public rooms of hotels.
The Tremont House was among the first urban establishments to open a women-only dining room, referred to as a 'Ladies' ordinary
Available in both gold plate and raw pewter tones (to note - the original was copper)
