These hand-carved sgraffito mug is crafted by a small batch potter focused on color and shape at her studio in the White Mountains of NH. Molly hand-paints each striped bass image with glazes prior to firing.
Wheel thrown with brown clay with incredible execution that is non-bulky, consistent, richly toned and has a great feel in the hand. Her work is a personal favorite of mine and in daily use for my morning java.
Given the hand-crafted natural of this pottery piece - each has some small variation in sizing, carving & color. They average around 4 1/2" H x 3 1/4" W 5 inches tall, 3.5 and holds about 20 oz. Importantly - they are dishwasher and microwave safe!
A few words from the Artist!
For all of my life I have enjoyed making things. I pursued art in college and graduated with an arts degree with a focus in drawing and painting. In the last year, I have shifted my creative outlet to pottery. Due to these two artistic passions, I like to combine techniques and bring my painting knowledge to the ceramic world. This results in bright colored glazes, hand carved drawings, and painted resist designs. I'm so excited to continue to explore and grow as a business owner and as an artist.
