Birch Porringer, with Caribbean blue milk paint & whale carving
Birch Porringer, with Caribbean blue milk paint & whale carving
This hand-turned wood bowl is crafted by Newburyport craftsman Eric Goodson. Deeply committed to the traditions of green wood turning, quality, and antique finishes - we especially love his utilization of richly colored, New England style milk-paints & ancient Urushi lacquer.
His carved accents add wonderful complementary, balanced textures and make each wood piece strikingly unique for one's table or as a gift. I like to call these utilitarian art works that adeptly combine form, color, & function.
4.25 x 2.75”, 8” to the tips of the handles, finished with flax and beeswax mix. Perfect as a cup or a personal bowl.
The reason we love these drinking bowls is their utility, whether you intend to drink or eat from them. Their collars and handles make them a delight to hold and pass around, and their slightly enclosed form keep liquids in their place. You can definitely drink from these bowls, but they are also great for cereals, salads, and soups and are wonderful for passing sides around a table. They are just a great design.
