In ancient times, acorns were seen as a symbol of potential and growth. Just like a tiny acorn grows into a mighty oak, it was believed that holding onto an acorn could inspire personal development and the fulfillment of dreams. These sweet, wool needle felted acorns are attached to an acorn cap.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Andrea Maginnis is a printmaker, assemblage artist, and mixed media maker with a passion for storytelling through form, pattern, and found materials. A graduate of Lesley University’s College of Art and Design, she brings over thirty years of professional experience as a designer, illustrator, animator, and front-end developer for various marketing agencies.
Throughout her design career, she created relief prints for professional logos and published illustrations featured in textbooks, advertisements, and print collateral. Now, she is focused on personal explorations in printmaking—modifying subjects she finds interesting or beautiful into bold, graphic compositions often layered with pattern and abstraction.
As a maker and assemblage artist, she works primarily with vintage and reclaimed materials, constantly seeking new ways to reimagine found objects. Her practice centers on uncovering hidden narratives and giving forgotten pieces of the past a renewed sense of life and meaning.
