Clicquot Club | Millis, MA

The Clicquot Club Company (pronounced "Klee-ko") was one of the nation's largest beverage companies. Founded by Henry Millis (son of the towns founder) in 1881it was committed to making an exceptionally high-quality product & imported exotic ingredients including Jamaican ginger & Cuban pure refined sugar that made their Ginger Ale a leader in the fledgling industry.

In 1901-Millis sold the company & the new owners took advantage of every form of early advertising – developing a brand mascot eskimo, building the world's largest animated sign in Times Sq and even creating a popular musical variety radio program.

Clicquot was also an industry pioneer- being the first to put metal caps on bottles, creating the quart bottle size soda as well as being the first to sell beverages in a can.

By the 1960s – intense competition in the soft drink industry forced the sale to Cott Beverage Corp (out of CT) in 1965 and then was eventually dissolved.
