About the Artist | Corey Prince

I (your humble shop keep) am a Newburyport based photographer & craftsman that has embraced the nineteenth century wet-plate collodion photography.

I was drawn to the unpredictable creative impact of antique chemistry, weather, light & shadow to create beautiful & nuanced one-of-a-kind images.

Trained by master wet-plater John Coffer, I utilize vintage development methods to create contemporary “ferrotypes” (aka tintypes) using late 1800s lenses and a multitude of customized cameras. All my plates are finished with the original formula for lavender varnish.

Works showcased in the shop incorporate both historic woods, vintage and reuse objects.
