Morse in 1901 - the line sailed along the eastern seaboard of the United States and Canada, operating out of Boston and New York. \u003cbr\u003eAfter WWI Eastern Steamship Lines took advantage of a U.S loans initiative for American built ships and hired naval architect Theodore Ferris to design new ships for the New York to Boston route. \u003cbr\u003eThe ships had to be stable enough to cross Block Island Sound but narrow enough to pass through the Cape Cod Canal. \u003cbr\u003eOne of these ships was the S.S Boston - built by Maryland Steel Co \u0026amp; commissioned for service in 1924. She was 402 feet long, with 345 staterooms.
