Yep – I keep telling myself I will be more diligent with my postings – but it just ain’t happening. As the planets align onto the cusp pf holiday chaos – I suspect my consistency will be even worse…. Hmmm – maybe I should consider it my quarterly announcement – like news to the financial sector in hopes my stock will rise. HA!
Today my back & legs ache from a full throttle afternoon of wood splitting. I was lazy, in my own twisted perspective, by renting a gas powered log splitter to assist ~ BUT, some of these logs where literally the breadth of columns from the Parthenon. The thing that killed me most was lifting those hateful things onto this clearly over matched and undersized hydraulic slide. If I was handier & craftier with a chain saw – I could have crafted an army of oak bears standing on their hind legs to protect our back yard….but next year’s hearth-side warmth was the objective of the day. A few dozen advils later and the body is still screaming at me.
btw – the shot above is from my Adventure with Cato cited in my last entry. This was fairly early in our first hike – as we passed a few daytimers out enjoying the foliage by the rivers edge. Cato seemd to elicit much interest by the passers-by as he was clearly the youngest hiker in the woods by a good 10 years. Many stopped to ask if it was his first time out and I was immensely proud of his focus, stamina, and resilience ~ even in the face of two nights of nasty rains in the valley that left us, and all of our gear quite cold, muddy and damp.
